Instagram

Instagram (also known informally Insta) is a photo and video-sharing social networking service owned by Facebook. Users can view, comment and like posts shared by their friends on Instagram. When your profile is set to public, anyone can find and view your profile, along with all your photos and videos. Set to private if you only want the followers you approve to be able to see your posts.

Filters

Instagram has a variety of filters you can choose to apply to both photos and videos. By tapping the Edit option at the bottom of the photo editor, you can also apply editing effects that allow you to edit adjustments, brightness, contrast, and structure. For videos, you can trim them and select a cover frame.

If you want to edit your photo or video within the Instagram app, simply tap the wrench icon and choose a feature from the bottom menu. You can adjust the contrast, warmth, saturation, highlights, shadows, vignette, tilt-shift and sharpness.

Instagram Stories

Instagram Stories, a feature that allows users to take photos, add effects and layers, and add them to their Instagram story. Images uploaded to a user’s story expire after 24 hours. Stories appear in a secondary feed that appears at the top of the page. To view a story of someone you follow simply click on the avatar and it will display.  To create your own story you can either tap your own photo or swipe right.  You also have the option of adding special effects.

Instagram Direct

This is a feature that lets users interact through private messaging

Carousel posts

This feature allows a user to use multiple media (images or video) in one post. Select the double square icon and then the media you want to include

Boomerang video

The Boomerang app takes a burst of photos, then speeds them up and plays them forward and backward to create a looping Boomerang video

IGTV

IGTV is a standalone video application by Instagram for Android and iOS smartphones. It allows for longer videos compared to Instagram feeds. While IGTV is available as a standalone app, basic functionality is also available within the Instagram app and website.
